The Chai Tattle - 23rd July 2026

Negotiations are patchy but show signs of slow agreement which provides some support to the markets.

The market is now clearly in a bearish run as oil prices - a $100 a barrel, rose at the petrol pumps as America carried attacks on Iran for the 12th straight day with statements from their government quite bullish on carrying out more strikes.

Expectedly the market has gone into panic selling mode with an overwhelming majority of the equities turning red, a change from the Asian markets where the Nikkei 225, Hang Seng, and Shanghai were ↑, with Sensex the only major declining index - due to political headwinds.

The market is responding by shedding its positions with but volume declined even further as prices were driven by sell side pressure.
